Green Light for Athlone Development

An Bord Pleanala recently granted permission by way of an SHD application process for 650 dwellings in Athlone with connections to the new greenway route.

Our office designed this urban regeneration scheme on behalf of Alanna Homes and Westmeath County Council and permission was approved in May 2021.

“A new neighbourhood for Athlone that will benefit from and support the local Greenway network”

After extensive engagement with the SHD planning process, the scheme has evolved to a proposal that will tie disparate neighbourhoods into a cohesive neighbourhood with local centres, parks, schools and greenway connections.

Construction is expected to begin in early 2022.
